We began in 2021 after COVID-19, when many families in our community were struggling with hunger, school fees, domestic violence, and hopelessness. Today, we continue to serve vulnerable children and youths across Busia Uganda and Busia Kenya.

Our story

Founded from the needs of vulnerable families

Good Samaritan's Yesu Akwagala Initiative Ltd was started by Director Nambuya Samalie, a dedicated, passionate, God-fearing, and sympathetic leader with a heart for children and youths in distress. The organization began with a small home for 12 children and has since grown into a border-centered effort serving many more children in need.

Mission

To care for the whole child

Our mission is to promote an environment in which OVC and youths are cared for and supported physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually, with emphasis on education, nutrition, and social support.

Vision

Equal opportunity, safe homes, lasting hope

We dream of equal provision of social support to all orphans, women, and youths, and of one day owning a bigger children’s home, chapel, hospital, and school.

Impact

Serving the community with practical support

We support children affected by domestic violence, loss of parents, alcohol and drug abuse, school dropout risks, and social neglect. Our work includes education support, food and shelter, spiritual mentorship, and youth empowerment.
